If it left Dakar already with a delay and an unfortunate diversion to MAD highly the max hours for the crew was reached.
Let's not focus on each issue on long haul of SN. Majority can be explained
Yess, but it was the first commercial flight with the NEW OO-SFP...it's not a flamboyant success and I admit "It's sad ".
We are talking about medical diversion, so no aircraft fault and as some people say crew has probably reached its limit.
KLM sometimes skips the Kigali stop when the flight has huge delay from Amsterdam (crew shift is at Entebbe and not at Kigali). Thus it avoids that the plane spends a night at Kigali and you have to send a crew from Entebbe (540km from Kigali) via the road, but roads are dangerous in Africa with a high risk of stress and tiredness for crew. Or plane you have chance that RwandAir flights are full to Kigali.
From Kigali, Passengers will re booked via Kenya Airways, Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines or Brussels Airlines or will get free night at the hotel.
I understand but we are talking about OO-SFP arrived around 9AM in MAD and still in MAD. A new "crew" ? I understand...maybe all flights of the day to MAD were full. So the aircraft is in MAD for medical reasons...Hope we will see a doctor !:-)

I don't know how airlines operations deal with this kind of issue and how works a reserve crew schedule
I just know one thing, at the work i see sometimes cabin crew going to USA, Africa or Asia to replace crew stucked sometimes due to an illness of Flight Attendant or because they (there i m talking about pilots) have to bring back an aircraft to the base (ferry flight) grounded in Asia or Africa due to a mechanical issue.
Same thing sometimes with aircraft maintenance engineer working for an airline.
In French we say Equipage de Mise en place. I think in English is Deadheading https://aerocorner.com/blog/deadheading/

In 2013, it took alsmost 24 hours (instead of 08h30-9h) for Air France passengers to fly from Detroit to Paris CDG. The A340 has made of 1st stop in Canada due to a medical diversion. Then crew has reached its hours limit the aircraft has made a 2nd stop at Brest (France) in the middle of afternoon.
A new AF crew arrived at Brest on Air France flight from Paris CDG late afternonn and the aircraft left Brest at 19h and arrived at Paris CDG at 20h.
You have so many things out of control that can happen each day for an airline and it's hard to predict the future.

You often complain others insult you, but do you realise it’s offending to call someone sick in the way you did?

What the hell is this of a comment??? Sorry, but this is not right. Maybe before you give such comments you should inform yourself why this plane was so long at BRU before it took its first flight....

And in another topic you wonder why some on this board seem to not like you...
Your negativity about and bias against Brussels Airlines is starting to become obnoxious.

I have the impression you're either a minor or English is not your second language. Frankly said: there's kind of a mismatch between this forum's discussions and the expression of your thoughts, I figure lately. I would recommend taking a summer break. Have a great summer
